FAQs

Do I need to have it all figured out? Not at all. Most people come with a vague worry and a lot of questions. That's exactly where we start.

Is this just for first-time mums? No. Second, third or fourth baby, every birth is different and so is every fourth trimester. Plenty of mums come to me because last time was harder than it needed to be.

When should I book? Ideally in your second trimester, when you've got time to plan and get your village sorted. Earlier is fine too. If your baby's already here, book a call and we'll start from where you are.

Can I bring someone other than my partner? Yes. Bring your mam, your sister, your best mate, whoever will be by your side after the birth.

Is it online or in person? The group and the Foundation Pathway are online, so you can join from your sofa (unless started and group is in person). Full Village Care is in your home.

What's included in the £460? The live group training for you and your support person, your written postpartum plan, and any follow-up or resources included.

Can I pay in instalments? Yes. You can pay in full or spread the cost over two payments.

Is this medical care? No. My support is practical, emotional and educational. I work alongside your midwife, GP and health visitor, and I'll point you to the right professional for anything medical, specialist feeding or mental health.

What are the energy sessions? Optional sessions to help you and your baby rest and feel settled. We'll talk first about whether they're right for you, and they're never a replacement for medical care.

I'm a midwife or nurse. How do I refer a family? Drop me an email at gemma@afreergem.com or send them to this page. You can also share the free fourth trimester guide with any family in your care.

Can my workplace book you? Yes. I run talks and training for maternity teams and employers. Get in touch and I'll put something together for you.

Why do I pay for the home visit consultation? I only take a small number of families each month, so every enquiry means carefully checking dates, travel and whether I can truly hold your postpartum window. The £47 fee protects that time. If you book a package, the full amount comes off your total.

Do I have to decide on the call? No pressure at all. If we both feel it's a good fit, I'll send you the next steps afterwards. Your dates are held once the 30% deposit is paid.

Can I ask a quick question first? Of course. Email gemma@afreergem.com with anything simple. Anything about your own circumstances is best saved for the call, where we can do it properly.
